Accounting
This department was established at the University of Zanjan in 1381 (2002) at the associate (two-year) level in order to supply the skilled manpower and technicians needed by organizations and companies. Based on plans formulated with the recruitment of faculty members, other levels were also launched in subsequent years.
The intertwining of accounting with the history of human civilization and the need of governments to collect tribute and taxes and to keep their accounts and records, and consequently auditing, is undeniable. These needs developed with the growth and expansion of human societies and gave rise to the modern science of accounting in order to meet the needs of markets and economic actors. The necessity of training specialized human resources in the field of accounting and auditing to respond to the ever-increasing needs of the market has led universities to establish this field.
The field of Accounting at the University of Zanjan was also established at the bachelor’s level in 1381 (2002). The transformation of the University of Zanjan into a comprehensive university, as well as the change in its mission to training specialized manpower at the national level, led to the establishment of the bachelor's program in Accounting and, consequently, the master's program in Accounting.
The field of Accounting is currently taught without a specialization (orientation) at the bachelor's and master's levels. The department's future plans include establishing a master's program in Auditing in the near future and preparing the groundwork for establishing a doctoral program in Accounting. The department's faculty currently consists of 4 members (one associate professor and 3 assistant professors) with relevant practical executive experience in the areas of auditing, investment, and public sector accounting and auditing, and given the future development plan, recruiting specialized and experienced personnel is on the agenda.
Objective of Establishing the Department:
Today, the field of accounting is considered one of the most important applied fields, such that one can hardly find an active organization that does not use an accountant and a financial manager. Therefore, the education and training of specialized human resources needed by banks, financial institutions, and other organizations at the national level, as well as in the province, will be of particular importance. In this regard, the Department of Accounting at the University of Zanjan has endeavored to address this important matter in order to meet the needs of society.
